CURRENT AURORA FORECAST: SOUTHERN HEMISPHERE
(If map does not appear, Ovation is offline. Try again a little later.)
Image credit: NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center
OVATION is a NOAA / NWS Space Weather Prediction Center empirical model that produces intensity estimates of Earth's auroras : the Aurora Borealis ("Northern Lights") and Aurora Australis ("Southern Lights"). Note that auroras are generally not visible at all by viewers at Earth's surface during daylight hours. In fact, they are usually only seen in total darkness or deep into twilight, i.e. an hour or more past sunset or an hour or more before sunrise. Northern Hemisphere Forecast

Note: sometimes the OVATION system is not working and it displays images from past predictions. Make sure that the date shown at the upper right of the image is current for the findings to be considered reliable.
